Paradiso sulla terra (paradise on the earth) - this is what comes to my mind when I think of Cinque Terre, literary translated from Italian- five lands- Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. They are located on the Italian Riviera in the region Liguria in North West Italy.

What makes those villages so special and unique? The aria consists from terraces on a rugged, steep landscape right up to the cliffs that overlook the sea. The five villages come as little pearls in this spectacular landscape. The combination between the impressive coast and the small simple colorful villages makes Cinque Terre so unforgettable and precious. There are walking paths between the five villages with various sceneries from terraces with vineyards to panoramic view to the whole coast. Beside paths, the villages can be visited by train and boat, I highly recommend a boat trip, the view from the sea gives a final touch to the whole impression. A must is a walk between Manarola and Riomaggiore, the path is called Via dell’Amore (the love street) and couples leave there their love notes. The walk takes only 20 minutes but it brings you through a fabulous scenery. The villages themselves are small, full of life in the summer thanks to the many tourists that visit them. What to do in the villages- enjoy il bell paese, just sit in a restaurant and enjoy the local cuisine , have a glass of wine and take sun. Near Cinque Terre is also the famous golfo dei poeti, called that way because it was residence of many writers such as Lord Byron and P.B. Shelley, who found inspiration in this "anfiteatro d'acqua". Being in Cinque Terre makes you forget the rest of the world, it’s just you and the sun reflection in the sea, the towering coast and the sparkling cute warm light houses.
The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
